Senegalese artist Diabou roots her work in the influences of her rich Senegalese culture, exploring identity, memory, and belonging through symbols, textitles and depictions of the daily life in Dakar. Her practice blends traditional African motifs with contemporary techniques like 3D printing, exploring how art preserves cultural identiy in contrast to postcolonialism. With a focus on representing Senegalese people and African symbols, Diabou's work depicts resilience and community, often in dynamic settings inspired by the markets gatherings and daily life. By bridging both traditional and modernity, she creates a dialogue that honors her heritage while reimagining its place in a globalized world, capturing the evolving narratives of African culture. Her use of oil paint, as well as her experimental 3D printed Artworks, presents a complex, juxtaposed image of African traditionalism and modernity.
